SpaceBeam is a pioneer in the field of photonics for flexible and high-performing beamforming receivers for synthetic aperture radars. Their main product is a spaceborne photonics-assisted SCan-On-REceive Synthetic Aperture Radar (SCORE SAR) receiver for Earth observation applications. This receiver is capable of employing multiple reconfigurable beams. The core of the receiver is implemented by a hybrid photonic integrated circuit.

SpaceBeam aims to enhance the use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology by developing a new radar receiver that will make reconfigurable multi-beam scan-on-receive SAR possible for Earth observation applications. They are committed to continuously improving the performance of Earth Observation (EO) systems, particularly in terms of resolution and sensitivity.

SpaceBeam’s project has been funded by the EU and has shown promising results in reducing the size, weight, power, and costs (SWaP-C) of microwave systems. Their innovative techniques are set to improve the performance of well-established SARs.
